How Does Carpooling Help the Environment?

Making simple changes to your transportation routine, like walking or biking when possible or carpooling to common destinations you visit regularly, can make a world of difference to the environment in Colorado. 

Vehicles commonly used to get us around Colorado like cars, busses and taxis, are a major contributor to air pollution, in fact they produce large amounts of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter that affect the environment, atmosphere and marine life. Participating in carpooling helps the environment by reducing the number of vehicles that are on the road at any given time, hence reducing the number of pollutants released into the air. 

A couple of folks we’ve encountered along the way have pointed out to us at TreadShare that a few less cars on the road isn’t going to make that big of a difference. We couldn't disagree more. Every step we take to correct and reverse damage caused to the environment makes a difference.
